Wagner mercenaries return to bases
Wagner leader Yevgeny Prigoshin promptly ordered his troops back to their bases. In doing so, he wants to avoid bloodshed, he explained in an audio message on Saturday evening. Prigochin: «They wanted to dissolve Wagner. We are on the 23rd. June set off for the march of justice. We came up to 200 kilometers before Moscow. During this time, we did not shed a drop of blood of our fighters.»
And further: «Now the moment has come when blood can be shed. I understand the entire responsibility for the fact that Russian blood can be shed on one of the pages. We turn our columns around and return to our bases according to the plan.»

The words were followed by deeds: In the meantime, the Wagner mercenaries have not only made a return to Moscow, but also left the occupied city of Rostov. There they had spent the whole day, side by side with the citizens, who partly insulted them, partly greeted them kindly. The feared battles between Kadyrov’s Chechen unit and Wagner did not break out.
Wagner Group led mercenary group in Moscow
The convoy that has approached Moscow is said to comprise about 5000 fighters. A similar number was also found in Rostov. In total, the Wagner squad has less than 25,000 men. According to Reuters, this is reported by a reliable source around the leadership in Donetsk, the province annexed by Russia.
Particularly explosive: According to the source, the mercenaries are led by a high-ranking Wagner commander. It is none other than Dmitry Utkin – a Russian national hero. He is considered the founder of the Wagner group and is said to be responsible, among other things, for their covert operations in Ukraine since 2014 and in the Syrian war. Utkin has received four Russian orders of bravery.
Dmitry Utkin was previously considered a national hero
Outside Moscow, armored military vehicles erected roadblocks, while Russian media showed small groups of police officers occupying machine gun positions in the southern outskirts. The authorities in the Lipezk region south of the capital asked the residents to stay at home.
